Of the thousand times I’ve been from Malaga to Seville and Seville to Malaga, I never thought about spending some time seeing the sights. Leaving Seville towards Malaga, I got a call to cancel the meeting I was going to. I thought about what to do. Head back to Seville, or continue to Malaga… In the end, I remembered what my brother had told me so many times about how beautiful Osuna is, and decided to act.
I took the first exit off the A-92 motorway and headed for the town centre. I soon noticed that Osuna was different than I had imagined it would be. Following the signs to the Historic Centre, I asked a lady coming home with her shopping what the town’s main sights were. Her reply alone left me speechless. She said, “sir, Osuna itself is one big monument.” After spending two hours strolling around the streets I realised that the lady had been right.
Plaza Mayor Square, with La Concepción Convent on one side, the Town Hall on another, and Osuna Casino on the other. Calle San Pedro street, full of palaces, one of which has been converted into a 4-star hotel, Calle Sevilla, Calle Cristo, Calle Gordillo... They all make up one of the best-conserved historic centres I have visited. In the upper part is the Collegiate Church and La Encarnación Convent, another unforgettable site. The day was definitely well worthwhile. From then on I have been an ambassador for Osuna wherever I go.
